Living the Simple Life

Growing up as a Country girl on a farm in Illinois wasn’t always easy, but now that I look back.. those were the days.  Getting up in the early morning watching the Farm Report with my daddy and growing the beans and radishes and anything else that they decided to plant, was always the highlight of my days. We were fortunate to live right next to a Corn field, and my mom would always make fresh corn bread.

At the age of 18, I wanted nothing more than to escape the Boring Country life. I wanted it all, I had to see it all and people say grass isnt always greener on the other side.. Well, I should have listened.. But if I didn’t go on my path of life that God decided to put me on, I would have never met my wonderful husband.

Fast forward many years to now… Seems like just yesterday but when you push through all the heartache and finally make it to where your supposed to be, you think it was a long rough road but I made it. Back to the Simple life. Green grass, country fields and easy way of living. Was it worth the journey? Yes, it was… Would I do it again? There’s about 15 years of my life I could do without, with exception to my boys, but Yes I would…  **Correction, I have to also include three beautiful girls that I had as  my stepdaughters…

Know that whatever your going through at this moment in time, that seems like an impossible journey, life will get better. As long as you believe in yourself, listen to your inner self and have faith in the higher powers you will and accomplish anything. One breath, one step and one day at a time.. 🙂

* This is the beginning of a new life, new future and easy living. Thank you Visalus for allowing me the opportunity to make my dreams come true…

Super Woman Syndrome

A couple of weeks ago, a friend said to me… Find whats in your heart and write. You have it, just dig deeper. So here goes….

After waking up at 2 am with excruiating pain, yes the kind of pain, where you feel like your legs are going to fall off, with every breath you feel the nerves going from your lower back to your shoulders and back down, I knew I had to get up and write.

Prior to May 2012, I was doing great.. I could be Super Woman then a MVA, hit from behind. People said your going to feel it the next day, I said, Nah, I’ll be ok. What they didn’t say is your going to feel it months after. I have my good days and bad days…

When does the mind finally get  together with the body and agree on the same thing, is there such a thing?  Mind says, Hurry Hurry Body says SLOW DOWN

I am the  type of person that doesn’t slow down, I try and GO GO GO *thanks Jake and the Backyardigans*  I suffer from Superwoman Syndrome.  I try and do it all, I want to do it all and I will do it all, even if its going to kill me.

Yesterday, there were things that needed to be done around here and who else to do them except Superwoman herself. BIG MISTAKE.  Lesson 1, dont over do it.. Lesson 2, Listen to your body and Lesson 3, take a break when needed.

I know in the past I have written about Running, Planking getting out there and moving but let’s take it back a little… One of my goals is to motivate you but I realize that its not the ones that are doing the 5k’s, the ones that are able to swim laps or the ones that are able to plank. My motivation is  needed for those that are suffering, that want to get out there and move and finding difficulty with every step they take.

The ones that have minds like me, that refuse to give up, slow down or even give up.  We are just going to have to change our way of thinking somewhat and keep on pushing, but in a different way. We can’t give up altogether, thats not going to work. Some people give up when they realize they can’t do it all, and Giving Up is not in my Vocabulary….

So as I say, One breath, One step and One day at a time… We can and we will do this together.

Running for Pleasure

Are you a runner? Have you ever ran a 5k, 3.1 miles, I believe.   You would be surprised how much fun and somewhat easy it is… Just put on a headset with your favorite music and GO!!  If you are  a first time runner or walker, don’t forget to stretch those muscles, drink lots of water and even add the Neuro to make it taste better and add some extra ZING to your steps. Pace yourself as you walk or run.  Doesn’t matter if your first or last as long as you finish…

If you are  in Provo Utah, This looks like my kind of race… Provo Halloween Half Marathon

But seriously look into races in your area sign up and go and have some fun.. Great way to meet other people and to support other causes…  Dont forget your Vi though… You’ll need extra energy and no better way and easier than a Healthy great tasting shake.

7. Watching the kids play out in the fields barefooted, priceless.

6.  Picking fruit off of trees, yummy

5.  Knowing that you dont have to keep up with Jones, just to fit in.

4.  Not worrying about high expensive bills when you just open the windows and feel the clean breeze flow in.

3.  Nothing better then putting clothes on the line to dry until it rains

2.  No neighbors

1.  I get to be ME!!!!

Rising up from underneath the sweat and tears

Going through life, our parent’s can’t wait until we hit the walking milestones, then they are eager for us to go back to school, graduation, getting our first job, finding someone to share our lives with so we can move out of their house and then start being in control of our own lives.

We are anxious to date, anxious to be on our own, to get our first car and house and a family of our own and then the cycle begins. We start having kids and the same rotation hits us…. WAIT!!!!

What happened to us? What happened to our lives? Seems like we are living our lives for every one else and not just for us anymore. We begin thinking that it doesn’t matter if we get up and exercise or take care of ourselves. Who do we see, who see’s us? Who care’s about us? Those are all question’s that used to run through my mind. Caring starts right in your own heart… Only when you care and start to heal yourself then you can move forward to heal and help others.

Begin to heal now, Begin to take strides in making a better life for yourself, it’s never to late… JUST START

For so long, I lived life through the eyes of my kids and others. I lost myself along the way. My dreams were gone and thrown to the side. It seems like my days went by living helping others, which wasn’t bad but I was working for someone else, making someone else rich.

I sat around in sweats and tears, not caring what I looked like or how I dressed. What happened to me?

Then one morning, something snapped… Hey, if I wasn’t taking care of me, who was? The kids now had their own life and friends seemed to go on their merry way. So it was up to me to get myself out there and if I wanted to be somebody, I had to create my own dreams. If I was going to succeed, it had to be because I wanted it and I had to be willing to work for it.

So off I went, I found something that I was truly happy with while still helping others and making good money. I started dressing myself up and looked in the mirror and remembered who I was and what I stood for. I became me!!!

I always tell others, You have to have attitude, believe that your good enough. It doesnt matter what others think, they dont live your life. You are what makes you happy and you must do everything and anything to find that place to bring joy to your days…. I remember after many years of abuse, I was driving down the road and something made me laugh.. I listened and thought, Hey, I just giggled.. which I didnt do for a very long time and then realized it was ok… It was ok to laugh,  I deserved it. I deserved happiness and respect.

Now I have a wonderful support system, my husband and friends. Surrounding myself with love and kindness is all it took to me to get me moving. I am now looking forward to getting healthy and fit and to become someone that I can rely on, look up to and to  depend on….That person is  ME!!

From the bottom of my heart, Thank you friends, family and Visalus

There are never Goodbyes only See you laters

Today as we lay a very special friend to rest, I have to sit and think back from the very first time that I met James and the family. It was an immediate connection between the family and our family. From Karaoke to James father being R’s best man at our wedding and watching James grow from 11 years old on…. From spending time with him in the pool and watching mom freak and then seeing the smile on his face because he knew he accomplished something. To James fascination when R would do his magic tricks and wanting more more more. When James would give you a hug, you knew he meant it from the bottom of his heart and I had never seen anything but happiness from him.

As life goes on and as we get older, does life ever really stop or are we just going to another place where I like to imagine fields full of daisies, only happiness and never sorrow.  What happens to the families that are left to grieve?  We go on with a void in our heart, but I was always told Their body may not be here, but their spirit lives on forever. In our hearts, when you see that special butterfly get a little closer, when you feel that little brush against your cheek or when you feel the presence as if someone is watching over your shoulder. Know that your loved one lives on through your memories and pictures.

So are there Goodbyes? I dont like to think so… There are only See you laters, someday we will meet again and am I going to give you the biggest hug ever and then, I will tell you all the secrets to the magic tricks… Love you bunches….. RIP James Graziano… You brought happiness to my life!!
